Match day 2 was a home fixture against Radcliffe Town!
Starting 11: Cooney, Ingle, Lee, Louca, Macdonald, Macormac (GK) E. Mitchell (C), S. Mitchell, Moth, Olori, Przybylski – Subs: Ajani, Bracken, Buckingham, Ihejirika, Onyeugba
Home Debuts for 17 year old Macdonald & Moth
The Visitors came out strong with a high press and didn’t allow us to get into any rhythm which paid off in the 7th minute when a loose ball out from Macdonald was intercepted and their No. 10 put a ball in behind our centre halfs into the danger area and a push in the back by Sam Mitchell resulted in the referee pointing to the spot, the No. 10 stepped up and slotted home to make it 0-1. Radcliffe continued to make life difficult for us to string passes together but around the half hour mark it was clear that Radcliffe’s work rate started to drop off and our midfield and attacking players started to find space and were having sustained spells in possession which ultimately paid off when a straightforward throw in from S. Mitchell into Olori allowed him to turn his man only to be wrestled to the ground and the referee made no hesitation but to point to the spot, Olori stepped up with a cool finish to send the keeper the wrong way to level the score.
Half Time 1-1
As we got the second half underway we were forced into an immediate change as S. Mitchell looked to be in some distress having got his foot caught in the turf and off to A&E he went. On comes Ihejirika for his Debut. The second half starting the way the first half finished with Monton having a good spell in possession and on 53mins from defending an attack from the visitors in our own box, Ingle comes away with it, sets Moth on his way only to receive a heavy challenge but good advantage from the referee allows Moth to feed in Olori who squares it for the arriving Lee who’s first touch takes it away from the defender and slots it passed the keeper to make it 2-1. An immediate change with goalscorer Lee making way for the returning Bracken. Only 2 minutes later a passing string between Macdonald, Cooney and Bracken who feeds the ball into the feet of Olori inside the box who turns his man this time going down to an outstretched leg that trips him and the referee points to the spot for the 3rd time of the day, Olori makes no mistake, as cool as you like and sends the keeper the wrong way to make it 3-1. No sooner had the visitors picked the ball out of the back of the net they were doing the same again on 57mins as a ball in behind from Macdonald found Moth who turned his man inside out and he curled a beauty into the far corner with his left foot 4-1! A further 2 changes from Monton seen Moth and Olori make way for Buckingham and Ajani, Ajani also making it a 4th home debut today! With the game all but done on 84mins the two substitutes Akani who plays it into Buckingham who turns his man 25yrds out only to be fouled. Up steps Ingle who places a great free kick around the wall and into the bottom corner leaving the visiting keeper no chance as he scrambled across but couldn’t keep it out.
Full Time 5-1
