Another three points on the board, but we certainly had to work for this one!   We were well below the standards we’ve set ourselves so far this season, and in truth the 3–1 half-time lead probably didn’t reflect the balance of the game. Abbey Hey were excellent, played some really good football and caused us problems throughout. But sometimes a good side has to find a way to win when things aren’t quite clicking — and that’s exactly what we did. The hosts continued to push after the break and pulled one back, before Ollie Macormac produced a huge penalty save to help preserve our lead and ensure we left with all three points. Credit to Abbey Hey, who can feel unfortunate not to have taken something from the game, but from our perspective it showed another side to this group — digging in, battling for each other and getting the job done on a difficult afternoon.
